Makerspace Programs

Current Programs

The Needlework Group with the Makerspace is a place and time to gather, work on independent projects, socialize, and support each other. Knitting, crochet, and cross-stich welcome. No formal teaching is being provided.

Needlework Group will meet:
First Tuesday of the month 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (drop-in)
First Wednesday of the month 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (drop-in)

October Dates:
Wednesday, October 1: 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday, October 7: 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

SPL Makerspace - 1 Bridge Street, Lakefield

Join us for a day and learn how to make your own round basket using coloured reeds. No experience is required. This is an October/November program, but registration and payment are due in September.

Both programs are currently full.

Recover your saved files! The SPL Makerspace has a USB Floppy Disk reader that will help you retrieve memory from old floppies. Transfer and save all those old files that you haven't seen for ages. This machine is only for the 3.5” plastic cased disks. There is no set fee for data transfer, and donations are welcome. Participants provide their own USB for the data saving.

Please call the Makerspace at 705-651-8601 to book a 30-minute time slot.

During this 2-hour class participants will learn how to design earrings in xTool Creative Space and then how to use the xTool laser cutter to cut the design out of acrylic. Participants will leave class with a finished pair of earrings. $5 will be collected at the end of class.
