Literacy-Focused Children’s Programs
PA Days and Holiday Break Programs
Children can take part in fun activities on PA Days during the Christmas and March Break holidays and throughout the summer. Examples include Lego activities, STEAM and art-based programs, Storywalks, weekly summer TD Summer Reading Club, reading challenges, and more. We also often host special performers and concerts during school breaks.
School, Daycare and Homeschool Programs
Programs are regularly offered for classes, daycares, and homeschooling families. These programs take various formats such as Storytimes, STEAM visits, and monthly and special event programs. Interested in booking a visit? Contact Kathleen, and she will direct you to the correct staff member for your needs.
At each branch, we offer year-round monthly scavenger hunts and take-home colouring contests with small prize bags for winners. Winners will be contacted by email.

STEAM Kits and Early Literacy Kits
At each of our branches, you can find special kits that you can borrow for your child.
STEAM Kits consist of games and activities to teach Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math Skills. Examples include the MakeDo Cardboard Construction Kit, and the “Robot Turtles” learn-to-code game.
Early Literacy Kits contain games and activities to help your child get ready to read or to encourage children on their reading journey. Each kit is different, for a different age range, and includes more than one activity. Examples include sequencing activities, phonics-based games, and sight word cards.
